Through this Edison asserts that, though not all his inventions worked on the first try, he did not give up trying and merely used that as a guide to remember what not to do. This fits us all in regular life. When we do not succeed at something the first time we try it, we must not give up trying, but we must remember what we did and we must look to the future. Think of each failure in a positive way and when the time comes that you have to do the same thing again remember what you did when you failed and dont do it again. If you still fail trying a different method, then remember that method as well and keep on trying. Sooner or later you will find the right path to success.

For example, one may think that what he was trying to say this just to cover up his failure, but others may think that he is only saying this to help people not give up in what they're trying to achieve, and keep pushing towards success, no matter how many tries it takes, just like the quote says "...I’ve just found 10,000 ways that don’t work"

Rather than quitting, he used the adversities as an inspiration to work harder and eventually lead to success. Without his perseverance, we wouldn't have been able to use electric light bulbs. Thomas Edison, famous electric lightbulbinventor once claimed,"I have not failed, I've just found 10,000 ways that don't work". Edison might have emphasized this when he was told he was a failure at one of his inventions but instead of taking the negative part of the comment he took the good part of it. Many of us though, tend to take the bad side of criticism instead of what is good which will help us get better. We should be more like Edison so we can figuire out what it is that we are doing wrong so we can improve even if it means finding 10,000 ways to do it wrong. We should also not just give up especially if we are trying something new because we will eventually be better at what we are trying.
ReplyDeleteFamous actor, John Wayne believes."Courage is being scared to death-and sadding up anyway". We might say that Wayne is sacared to death when it comes to acting but he has the courage that helps him get through it. 1)Thomas Edison, the famous inventor of the light bulb and phonograph once claimed, “I have not failed; I’ve just found 10,000 ways that don’t work.” This means that most successes will take place with series of attempts that didn’t quite turn out the way it was expected. With that being said, I think we eventually gain a respect for the learning process. I agree with the quote, because no matter how much you try, you should never allow yourself to give up.
ReplyDelete2) John Wayne, an all-time western favorite movie actor believed, “" Courage is being scared to death- and saddling up anyway." Even though you run away from fear or even death, you should always be ready for it, cause it’s coming whether you like it or not. And when you run away from your fear, it just adds to your weaknesses.
Mr. Edison, the genious who is primarily known for his lightbulb invention, once said "I have not failed, I’ve just found 10,000 ways that don’t work.” To me, this quote is a great optimistic way of perceiving failure. But it's not really failure. Once you've tried to do something and it didn't work out as planned you have learned not to do that again. There is not success or failure in trying!
ReplyDelete"Courage is being scared to death- and saddling up anyway.” (John Wayne, actor)
The above quote expresses a strong man's perspective about courage. If something takes courage it is obviously a daring task. If you weren't scared of the deed to be done then you'd just be in a normal state of mind doing another daily thing. But instead, you feel as if "saddling up" perhaps on a crazy horse for a wild ride. (i'm not sure about my grammer here)
And the courage that runs through your veins gives you the drive to to do the deed anyway and not just hope, but expect to be okay in the end and accomplish what must be done.
I hope this made sense! :D
Thomas Edison, inventor of the light bulb once claimed, “I have not failed, I’ve just found 10,000 ways that don’t work.” His words may be interpreted as his continuous efforts to possibly create something, however he is constantly constructing incorrect ideas. But Edison urges that failure is not the end of an experience. It is possible that previous failures can help future attempts as long as you don't give up. It means that you can't always be right but being wrong shouldn't distract you from your goals.
ReplyDeleteJohn Wayne, a well-known actor during the 1940's and 1960's once asserted, "Courage is being scared to death - and saddling up anyway.” His emphasis on this definition of 'Courage' can be viewed as reckless, yet acceptable. I believe that this quote's objective is to encourage those who are possibly afraid of death to be able to withstand the fears of it. Those who live in fear are in constant psychological distress and cannot freely live their lives. It is important to have courage when needed for yourself and others.

1. Thomas Edison, inventor of the light bulb, once claimed “I have not failed, I’ve just found 10,000 ways that don’t work.” Edison reminds us that we may see it one way, but could be another way to someone else. So never give up try, try, try again and learn from the mistakes.

They are actually just finding ways that aren't going to collaberate with their master plan. By doing so, they are coming closer to achieving success.

1. Thomas Edison, an important inventor, was well-known not only for his, inventions, but also the journey he took to reach his goals. The journey should never be excluded from a story, it should be the highlighted portion, the focus, the necessity. The journey is the story. When Edison exclaims to the world that he has not failed, he is still on his journey, he is not justifying himself. He is showing the path he has taken in a new light, a concept that is simple, but hard for men to grasp.
ReplyDelete2. John Wayne, the protagonists of protagonists, the man who is the face of courage, defined courage in a different light, which is gathering your fears and stepping forward to face danger. Courage has often been defined as having no fear at all. Many people picture courage as a man in a cowboy suit, his bandanna drawn up onto the bridge of his nose, an icy glare under his bristly eyebrows, and his voice echoing with a Texas drawl, "This town ain't big enough for the both of us." He has no fear. But courage is possessing the quality of willingness to face a difficulty. You cannot have a difficulty without some sort of fear. Therefore, you cannot have fear without courage. John Wayne breaks the stereotype of a courageous person that even he has played into throughout his career.
Thomas Edison, the inventor of the light bulb, believed "I have not failed, I've just found 10,000 ways that don't work." Edison is trying to tell us that you shouldn't look at all your failures as failures, but as lessons that you learn while trying to achieve your goal. Take me, for example, in the recent past I was having a difficult time finding the answer to a mathematical problem. Although I failed several times, I only looked at them as ways that will give me the wrong answer, not as failures.
ReplyDeleteJohn Wayne, a famous actor that starred in numerous Western films, insited that "Courage is being scared to death- and saddling up anyway." Wayne is trying to inform us that having courage does not mean you don't possess fears, but that courage is the act of facing your fears, although your afraid. I used to be afraid of roller coasters, but a few years back when at a trip to Disneyland I faced my fear and rode on the Matterhorn.

It gives motivation to proceed forward and try harder the next time, while learning from prior mistakes. He may have had a hard time when inventing the light bulb or phonograph, and probably saw many people of his time give up just because they failed once, only once, at something. Edison didn’t want to be like that, all miserable and whatnot, he wanted to prove that he could make his inventions actually happen, even if it took forever. This encourages people of the world, any ethnicity or age group, to not give up when trying to accomplish something even if they’ve failed one or three hundred times, keep trying is the way to go.

As time progressed in his acting career, he soon forgot the feeling of being in front of a camera, it became as easy as breathing.
Thomas Edison, the man who invented the light bulb, once voiced, “I have not failed, I’ve just found 10,000 ways that don’t work.” Although one may not have succeeded, it does not mean that one has failed, only that they are still learning. Just like the first aeronauts, their planes were not correct, but with their failed attempts, they learned how not to make an airplane.
ReplyDeleteJohn Wayne, famous for his western films, once proclaimed, “Courage is being scared to death- and saddling up anyway.” According to Wayne, having courage means facing your fears, no matter how hard it may be.
